Story
In 1844, Alexandre Dumas published The Three Musketeers, a novel so famous and still so popular today that it scarcely needs introduction. Shortly thereafter he wrote a sequel, Twenty Years After, that resumed the adventures of his swashbuckling heroes. Later, toward the end of his career, Dumas wrote The Red Sphinx, another direct sequel to The Three Musketeers that begins not 20 years later but a mere 20 days afterward. The Red Sphinx picks up right where the The Three Musketeers left off.

Pass over this book. Has nothing to do with the Musketeers. Dumas did not finish it for a reason. Not inspiring or entertaining. Wish I could get a refund.

Story
In 1915, Sherlock Holmes is retired and quietly engaged in the study of honeybees in Sussex when a young woman literally stumbles onto him on the Sussex Downs. Fifteen years old, gawky, egotistical, and recently orphaned, the young Mary Russell displays an intellect to impress even Sherlock Holmes. Under his reluctant tutelage, this very modern, twentieth-century woman proves a deft protégée and a fitting partner for the Victorian detective.

Best ever Sherlock Holmes pastiche

Love all the MARY Russell books by Laurie R King. Be sure to include the authors middle initial when searching for her work. I hope she writes more. Do read them in order. My favorite is O Jerusalem. I have read most of them multiple times.

The next day April wakes up to a viral video and a new life. I was excited when I saw Hank Green had written a book. I love using his educational videos in my biology class. He is humorous and a great story teller. His characters are fresh and interesting. Sadly I can not recommend the book as it is saturated with curse words. Not something I enjoy and would not recommend for the teen audience it is obviously intended for.
