Story
Clayton Deese looks like a small-time criminal, muscle for hire when his loan shark boss needs to teach someone a lesson. Now, seven months after a job that went south and landed him in jail, Deese has skipped out on bail, and the US Marshals come looking for him. They don't much care about a low-level guy - it's his boss they want - but Deese might be their best chance to bring down the whole operation. Then, they step onto a dirt trail behind Deese's rural Louisiana cabin and find a jungle full of graves.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 04-27-19
I always look forward to a new Sandford book but this one was bloated with a minor story line and gratuitous descriptions of rape. It seemed as though he phoned it in. I’m sorry I bothered to stay to the end.

A Brief Listen
Reviewed: 03-21-10
I never made it through 30 minutes of this book. My head was spinning trying to figure out if she was writing a book - or telling the listener about all her other books. I felt as though I had entered Chapter 20 instead of Chapter 1.
I am afraid to download any of her earlier books, in case she decides to take me back to any essays she wrote in college.
Ugh.

Great book - terrible narration
Reviewed: 06-23-09
I know I gave this 5 stars. That's because I was pleasantly surprised by several twists and turns. I'm usually the type of listener who knows the end before the 1st part is finished.
However, I must say that the reader (who has read other books wonderfully) seems to have given direction that saying "A" as in "A" is for apple and THE as in "I love thee dearly" for every sentence and every piece of dialogue is extremely annoying. I listened in fast speed so I could hear the book without hearing him.

Annoying teenagers yet again
Reviewed: 08-30-05
At first I thought this was going to be a wonderful book. It has history, characters, witty yet thoughtful dialogue and intrigue. The readers are some of my favorites. I knew I had a winner until I found myself comparing it to other books with Precocious Teenagers Who Have Lost Fathers (ie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close). After a while their clever and insightful comments become just annoying. I was disappointed. The author should stick to adults.
