Story
In this abridgement of River-Horse, the pre-eminent chronicler of American back roads - who has given us the classics Blue Highways and Prairyerth - recounts his singular voyage through American waters from sea to sea. Along the route, he offers a lyrical and ceaselessly fascinating shipboard perspective on the country and its rivers, lakes, canals, and landscapes.

Proud C Dory owner

But we stick to the peaceful Saint Johns River in Florida in our 22 foot C Dory. I hope my husband doesn’t get a hold of this book I’m sure he’ll be reading those navigation charts and dreaming about the 14 foot waves and adventures. Great book. Thank you for writing it and making me proud I live in this great nation. Hope we can preserve those rivers

Story
Five hundred years ago, Michelangelo began work on a painting that became one of the most famous pieces of art in the world - the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Every year millions of people come to see Michelangelo's Sistine ceiling, which is the largest fresco painting on earth in the holiest of Christianity's chapels; yet there is not one single Christian image in this vast, magnificent artwork.
