Father Boyle, aka G, is the only one who can tell this story. I laughed and cried and can't wait to listen again and again.

The narrator was fantastic. I can still hear him in my head. The book is so full of memories, not just Mr Doig's but mine. My mother's family came from Scotland and some of the words a phrases jumped out at me like a very welcome present. Honyakers is a word I remember well and miss hearing from my mom. Thank you Mr Doig, for sharing your father and Lady with us.

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

My favorite book of all time!
Reviewed: 05-31-12
What made the experience of listening to The Stand the most enjoyable?
The length of it - the fact that it was so well done, I really enjoyed it immensely!
What did you like best about this story?
Good will persevere even when people muck it up.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scenes with Nick stand out - but I also like Stu Redman, especially in the CDC - he comes across so clearly and strongly.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
It's already been made and it can't compare to the book. Some of the actors chosen just didn't suit.
Any additional comments?
I've read this book about 20 times - the original shorter version and this version where Stephen King brought back a lot of pages that had been left out in that first publishing. It's awesome that this reading was from that much longer version!

I did not know what to expect having just finished the Hunger Games series. I loved those and thought that this may be along those lines. Gregor, Boots and all of the other characters in this series are awesome. I just got this book 3 days ago- and have just finished second one. These books are so good I'm going to purchase the books themselves.
The story is gripping, heartwarming, heartbreaking and just wonderful. There is no swearing - yes these may be more for children than adults but I don't see it that way. I'm looking forward to listening to the 3rd book!

Story
Lisey lost her husband, Scott, two years ago, after a 25-year marriage of profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, best-selling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went - a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon.

My title makes sense if you listen to this book. I've listened twice and I absolutely love it. Mare Winningham is the best narrator I've heard in a long time. She gets the voices, inflections, fear and hope right. And Stephen King always takes me places I love and fear! I will probably listen to it again and again. Lisey is so strong and tragic and her connection with Scott and her forays into the past really capture you! This book is on par with The Stand (my all time favorite Stephen King).
