This one is unbearable. It's mostly Cress pining and being creepy, and I'm tired of that story line. Cress and Thorne are NOT meant to be together. It feels 100% forced. Cinder and the prince are always horrid to each other. Why is this a bestseller?

Story
In this third audiobook in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they're plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and prevent her army from invading Earth. Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl trapped on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she's being forced to work for Queen Levana, and she's just received orders to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

Crashing and Burning
Reviewed: 02-03-16
I don't think the author understands how germs and first aid work. She gets well known information incorrect and then has characters blurt out mostly correct scientific facts that I'm sure she just looked up. If she could look up the difficult stuff, why couldn't she look up what a concussion is, or basic information about germs and epidemics?
Well-known characters do personality 180s, which is annoying, but Cress is worse. She blatantly stalks Thorne, gets upset at the fact that he doesn't meet the unrealistic expectations of him she has in her head, and he finds it all endearing. If they were gender bent, this would be creepy, not charming, and I am disappointed that this relationship somehow didn't end badly because she has been stunted socially and her "charming" quirks in real life would be off putting.
Kai is a lemming, plain and simple. He will take any chance he can to throw himself off of Martyrdom Cliff, and berates anyone who tries to stop him. When he and Cinder interact, he yells, and accuses her of things he KNOWS she hasn't done. He says racist things about others and makes her feel small and ashamed of herself and how she's trying to save him. Instead of trying to harden up and ignore his mean outbursts, she internalizes them, and gives him the opportunity to soothe her hurt feelings. Feelings that HE HURT IN THE FIRST PLACE. I keep waiting for this to turn into the story of how Cinder becomes a supervillain. Which would be a much better story at this point.

Not As Good
Reviewed: 01-18-16
Definitely doesn't live up to the first book. Scarlet has quite a few flaws. The narrator's 4-star review is because Scarlet screeches so much, the narrator tries to imitate it without deafening people. She ends up sounding shrill, yet whispering. It's off putting. That being said, I greatly enjoyed Wolf, and his dichotomous personality at war with itself.
I'm getting tired of Prince Kai's obvious kink of sacrificing himself for the good of the Commonwealth, when in the long run, it WOULDN'T be the good of the Commonwealth. And at this point, I don't see why Cinder still likes him. Let the lemming throw itself off the cliff if that's what he wants so much. You have better things to do.
I enjoy Captain Thorne immensely. He's well written (as well written as anyone in YA can be) and has quite a few funny comments. He and Ico work well together.

Great Read!

Very interesting. A bit predictable, and honestly the smaller twists surprised me more than the big ones, but a great spin on a tale that's been told and retold for a very very long time.
The narrator was excellent. Distinct voices, well voiced. I enjoyed listening to her.

There's a little more romance than I would enjoy. Sometimes it jars you out of the mystery. But the plot is good, it sets up the sequel very well, and I enjoyed the relationship between Holmes and his niece. She isn't an investigator, and all she can do is hold the clues until Uncle Holmes comes to town. The world doesn't need another female Holmes. Adler is bad enough.

Good story. Not at all like the summary says it is, so boo on that. However, the main character is extremely likeable, and I didn't know exactly how it was going to end until almost the end. Good job overall!

Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire's second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell's acting troupe's latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a damper on Alexia's enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.

Lady Alexia Maccon, soulless, is at it again, only this time the trouble is not her fault. When a mad ghost threatens the queen, Alexia is on the case, following a trail that leads her deep into her husband's past. Top that off with a sister who has joined the suffragette movement (shocking!), Madame Lefoux's latest mechanical invention, and a plague of zombie porcupines and Alexia barely has time to remember she happens to be eight months pregnant. Can Alexia determine who is trying to kill Queen Victoria?
