The Policeman's Daughter is the 2nd book in the series by Trudy Nan Boyce, who is a former ATL police officer in the heart of one of its projects and really rough part of town. I had the pleasure of meeting the author at a book signing; I enthusiastically picked up the (first) book and have eagerly waited for this 2nd. It did not disappoint! The book's character's are raw, passionate; it's a great story for lovers of real-world city life.

Harvest is a quick listen about a young couple who go on a long-awaited vacation only to realize they have been duped and may die. A bit tongue in cheek, but the narrator has an enthusiasm for the story that really brought out the creepiness of the story.

I loved this book for how well-written it was, but the narrator was a little monotone. A a result it was hard to distinguish stories.

Crazy Rich Asians is the first in a 2 book series. It's crazily sardonic and manages to mock Asian wealth without racism. I loved the overdone characters and loved the desriptors of Asia. The last bonus in this book series is all the descriptions of Chinese dishes. Yummy!

The Girl Who was Taken is a simple story of girls who are abducted. Its cleverness comes in weaving 2, maybe 3, different time periods, as is the popular genre style of late. This syle is done with ease and clarity in this book. The main characte, Magan, is sympathetic and the story is written well.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I fondly remember The Firm and The Runaway Jury, and the clever, underhanded ways thing were done. The suspense and edge-of-seat drama really made me love John Griahma. OF late though, his books have lacked ANY of the original cleverness. The Whistler has this framework, but I was so disappointed that there were no surprises.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I think I would have added a surprise or 2.

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

I really like Cassndra Campbell. She made me see the characters

Did The Whistler inspire you to do anything?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

It's a pleasant, but really boring read.

Ealy Decision is a reality-based fiction story about Anne, a college consultant who is hired by several rich and priviledged families who think Anne can get their less than stellar kids into college

What other book might you compare Early Decision to and why?

This book is very similar in style and irony to the Nanny Diaries.

Which character – as performed by Erin Moon – was your favorite?

I loved all of Erin Moon's characters--she has this great ability to make it seem like there are several narrtors--but I loved the boy the most.

Who was the most memorable character of Early Decision and why?

They all were great.

Please do yourself a favor and get every book in this series. The characters are delightful, the stories are funny, and it's an overall joyful experience~!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Can't help but love Georigiana--she is so sweet, hapless, earnest....fun.

What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I adore Katherine Kellgren! She does a fantastic job of narrating each character as if they were a person. I look forward to these voices in each book.

Gripping story about child abductions in Bay Area

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Tell My Dad is a quick and smooth 5 hour read centering on child and young adult abductions and college-age girl victimization. Along the way there is a Superman vigilante-type character who kills perpetrators and leaves the words "stay away". There are also a myriad of additional characters, including police officers, family members, and a college student investigating the abductions. It's a busy read.

Would you recommend Tell My Dad to your friends? Why or why not?

I gave this book a 3 due to the incredulity of the setup. According to this book, there is at least one victimization every day in a metro area, and Superman manages to figure out and kill every perpetrator. This story would have been better if set up in a fantastical setting, rather than starting out with the statement that the book was inspired by true events.

Have you listened to any of Brian Troxell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I really enjoyed narrator Brian Troxell's voice--smooth and enthusiastic without being over the top. I did not particularly like his feminine voices or ethnic voices which is the reason for 4 stars.

Do you think Tell My Dad needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yeah, go the fantastical route and put the vigilante and Samantha in a series together.

Any additional comments?

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I think Ram Muthiah did an honorable job his first book out!
