Story
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (German for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for more than two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism - but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

It's the writing...
Reviewed: 01-18-20
The story of the tattooist of Aushwitz is worth while but the writing was very melodramatic through out most of the book, the are places where the book jumps around a lot feeling lost, characters who feel like they are building up to be a part of the story but are immediately forgotten within seconds. The vocal performance was good but the writing style just feels like it wasn't up to the task of translating a harrowing story into a good book.

Story
Prosecuting attorney in the Manson trial Vincent Bugliosi held a unique insider's position in one of the most baffling and horrifying cases of the 20th century: the cold-blooded Tate-LaBianca murders carried out by Charles Manson and four of his followers. What motivated Manson in his seemingly mindless selection of victims, and what was his hold over the young women who obeyed his orders? Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Although it would be a bit weird to recommend a book on the Manson murders, if anyone wanted to know this is a great resource. It can be a little hard to follow with so many names being mentioned but they start to click after a little while.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Helter Skelter seen though the eyes of the man who was able to stop it.
