Story
Mark Kurlansky's first global food history since the best-selling Cod and Salt; the fascinating cultural, economic and culinary story of milk and all things dairy - with recipes throughout. According to the Greek creation myth, we are so much spilt milk; a splatter of the goddess Hera's breast milk became our galaxy, the Milky Way.

Read the Book....But don't listen to it!!!

Mark Kurlansky is an instant buy for me. The stranger the topic, the more fascinating I know it will be. So when I saw he had a new book, I went ahead and used my credit without listening to the audio sample. Big Mistake!! The narration sounds so robotic that I'm almost convinced that it IS just a chatbot. The charm of the writing is completely lost by the stilted and monotone delivery.

Story
Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, and been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft. The secret to Col. Hadfield's success - and survival - is an unconventional philosophy he learned at NASA: prepare for the worst and enjoy every moment of it.

Would you listen to An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth again? Why?
Yes. And I will probably re-read in print as well.
What was one of the most memorable moments of An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth?
Everything! But I especially loved the parts on preparedness - sweating the small stuff, and putting your ego aside to be a part of the team. And all the great anecdotes about being in space. Nothing's ever made me want to go to space like this before.
Which character – as performed by Chris Hadfield – was your favorite?
Always great to hear an audiobook read by the author. Especially when you've followed him on youtube!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, very hard to 'put down.'
Any additional comments?
I was only a few chapters into this when I knew it was a keeper. It's way more than a memoir, it's really good advice on how to conduct yourself in life. I bought a hard copy for my boss, and another copy for a friend.

Story
Follow New York Times best-selling author Mary Roach - but be careful not to trip - as she weaves through personal anecdotes and everyday musings riddled with her uncanny wit and amazingly analytical eye. These essays, which found a well-deserved home within the pages of Reader's Digest as the column "My Planet," detail the inner workings of hypochondriacs, hoarders, and compulsive cheapskates. (Did we mention neurotic interior designers and professional list makers?) For Roach, humor is hidden in the most unlikely places, which means that nothing is off limits.

Bad narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?
Felt the need to emphasize the last word of every SENTENCE. No matter what word it WAS. Couldn't bear it for more than 45 min. Love Mary Roach, but I think I'll get this one in print.

Will make you want to become a designer

Absolutely fascinating book on the way Design Thinking has changed the world, for better and worse, and what current Designers are doing to change everyone's life for the better. Every case study mentioned is amazing, my favorite being how Deborah Adler has revolutionized Target's pharmacy to make it easy to understand medication, and harder to take the wrong thing.
The worst part of this book is that it makes me want to go back to school and get into Design!
