Story
In Cold Case, a decades-old missing person case turns red-hot, threatening Carlotta’s composure and a Massachusetts political race. A mysterious client comes to Carlotta secretly with a wild tale: He has obtained parts of a recently written novel by Thea Janis, the literary sensation who disappeared 24 years ago. As soon as Carlotta begins to hunt for the author, her client calls off the search. But she accidentally discovers Thea’s grave in a nearby cemetery - unearthing a tangle of lies and scandal that Boston’s most prominent citizens will do anything to suppress.

Almost a stand alone. Very sad for all characters. Very little Carlotta humor. Don’t read as first in the series

Story
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

US or Canada?

This is a cautionary tale more predictive for the US than Canada! I expected a character to be named Donald or Elon besides Robert.
