Story
Former Army brat Morgan Albright has finally planted roots in a friendly neighborhood near Baltimore. Her friend and roommate Nina helps her make the mortgage payments, as does Morgan's job as a bartender. But after she and Nina host their first dinner party—attended by Luke, the flirtatious IT guy who'd been chatting her up at the bar—her carefully built world is shattered. The back door glass is broken, cash and jewelry are missing, her car is gone, and Nina lies dead on the floor.

Surprised

I’ve never read or listened to a Nora Roberts book because I was under the impression her style of writing was mushy romance. This book was anything but that. Yes there was an underlying romantic story, but the main storyline was about a serial killer that wouldn’t let go. I really enjoyed the read and have already recommended it to my personal friends. If you like that style of writing, I definitely recommend!

Story
In the 13th century, Moundville was one of the largest Native American settlements north of Mexico. Spread over 325 acres were 29 earthen mounds arranged around a great plaza, a mile-long stockade, and dozens of dwellings for thousands of people. Moundville, in size and complexity second only to the Cahokia site in Illinois, was a heavily populated town as well as a political and religious center. Moundville was sustained by tribute of food and labor provided by the people who lived in the nearby floodplain as well as other smaller mound centers.

Moundville is an overlooked treasure of Alabama. We have visited many times. To see it in person leaves one in awe of the massive amount of manual labor required to construct these structures.
