There are very few books that I'd categories as must reads for everyone. This book is certainly one of them.

We are all going to make end of life choices - maybe for ourselves but likely also for our loved ones. Gawande uses well narrated stories to help readers step into the shoes of those making end of life decisions - both good and bad decisions are explained in a way that highlights what's truely important and how easy it is to be guided by fear and sqander the precious opportunity for a good end to a life well lived.

This book addresses this very difficult topic with sensitivity, clarity and clear headed objectivity. Death is inevitable. In today's world terminal illness is increasingly a common precursor to it. We all need to learn how to handle this extremely important period of our lives better. This book will start the right conversations.

It is not an easy listen though - I found myself in tears at multiple parts. But it's certainly a worthwhile read.

This book sorely needs many more maps and even pictures to visually guide the listener/reader. In some parts it feel like there is to much verbal description of geographical features that aren't away easy to process.

You will likely have an few"aha!" moments where the role of geography in clearly seen in the history of countries or regions. I particularly liked the chapter on Russia and China. But some of the sections are less about geography and more about people, bad decisions and unrealised potential. In those areas the premise seems forced.

Overall, this book is still a good read though. It certainly piques one's interest in the role of geography in history and politics.

it's a little long, but the ideas build beautifully. The reading is easy to follow and engaging throughout. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the future of our species.

Extremely insightful - like all Malcolm Gladwell books are! I, like most millennials, held a fairly simplistic view of complex social interactions such as racial profiling, sexual assault under the influence of alcohol, and enhanced interrogation techniques. This book explains the inherent biases that make us such poor judge of lies, and so bad at understanding and interacting with strangers especially in complex scenarios. in a world where we interact more with strangers than friends, everyone needs to read this book!

Michelle's account of her life's journey is brimming with honesty, sincerity, and endless optimism. This book is an inspiring read. Every young woman should hear this story. In a time of horrifying erosion of values and culture, Michelle's grace and dignity stand as an inspiring reminder of what we need to hold on to.
