suffer through this one so you can have one of the most fun romantacy adventures a girl could ask for. If you don’t love it by the end of book two you can tap out then but not a moment before.

Story
The village of Saint-Ferdinand has all the trappings of a quiet life. Though if an out-of-towner stopped in, they would notice one unusual thing - a cemetery far too large and much too full for such a small town, lined with the victims of the Saint-Ferdinand Killer, who has eluded police for nearly two decades. It's not until after Inspector Stephen Crowley finally catches the killer that the town discovers even darker forces are at play.

huge disappointment

I think a great narrator could have elevated the story or a great book could have overcome the poor narration. Unfortunately, this failed on both counts.
The story is meandering, the dialogue is flat, the characters are underdeveloped, the motives are unconvincing and the pay off is absolutely not worth the investment. I'm not convinced this author has actually met people. Or, admitting that he likely has, he certainly doesn't seem to understand them.
The narration is uninspired and I found the voices used for characters to be indistinct.
This was not a short listen and I deeply regret having wasted my time.
If you're looking for a wonderfully weird and suspenseful supernatural horror and don't mind a bit of gore, may I recommend The Library at Mout Char instead?

Story
You may "know" Jenny Slate from her Netflix special, Stage Fright, as the creator of Marcel the Shell, or as the star of Obvious Child. But you don't really know Jenny Slate until you get bonked on the head by her absolutely singular writing style. To see the world through Jenny's eyes is to see it as though for the first time, shimmering with strangeness and possibility.

Story
From the creator of the beloved and universally acclaimed television series BoJack Horseman, a fabulously off-beat collection of short stories about love - the best and worst thing in the universe. Equally at home with the surreal and the painfully relatable (and both at once), Bob-Waksberg delivers a killer combination of humor, romance, whimsy, cultural commentary, and crushing emotional vulnerability.
