Story
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Terrible and tedious

I don’t normally write a lot of reviews, but this deserves it. I love Crichton books and I’ve dabbled in a couple Patterson books so this seemed a safe bet. This was my listen to and from work audio book. I have never felt like a 10 hour audio book lasted for 20. This could have been wrapped up easily in half the time. It just droned on and on. It was an absolute waste of time. I won’t even get into the unrealistic events (and there were many). I really didn’t like any of the characteristics except the two that were randomly killed off (for no apparent reason that I could tell). The main character, MacGregor, is a scientist/action hero/leader that just irritated me with his stereotypical macho attitude. Add to it the ending was ridiculously anticlimactic and all in all I pretty much despised this book.

Story
It was lyrics at first sight when I saw Violet Rhodes across that crowded party. She was lights and darks, swirled together. Music in motion. And all of it while looking like a hitwoman at an Elvis convention. I had nothing to offer the intriguing girl but a one-night stand. I figured I’d revel in my last night of anonymity before my first tour and shoot her a quick “we’ll always have LA!” good-bye the next morning. But nothing went according to plan.

I’ve read the whole series and loved every book! I rarely laugh out loud when listening to an audio book but these get me every time! The quick witted dialogue is awesome! Yeah, there’s raunchiness, but it’s funny raunchiness and you get that great happy ending...lol. If you like heat and sexiness in your reads, I highly recommend the whole series!

Had to stop!

I got to chapter 9 and couldn’t take anymore! Seriously both of the main characters, but especially Gentry, were just awful! I couldn’t stand her! She’s having these arguments with her parents and instead of sympathizing with her, I’m thinking, “yeah, you tell her mom and dad!” She whines and complains throughout and I just wanted to yell at her to grow up! Ian isn’t much better, but at least he shows some aspects of being a good person. Maybe I just need a book with a stronger female character cause this book didn’t do it for me at all! The narration was fine and I’d listen to a book from her again. I just don’t think the narrator had much to work with here. I’m so irked! I hate to stop in the middle and not finish a book!

Story
As the only female firefighter at Engine Co. 6, Alexandra Dempsey gets it from all sides: the male coworkers who think she can't do the job, the wives and girlfriends who see her as a threat to their firefighter men, and her overprotective foster brothers who want to shelter their baby sister at all costs. So when she single-handedly saves the life of Eli Cooper, Chicago's devastatingly handsome mayor, she assumes that the respect she's longed for will finally come her way.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this was seriously so insulting I had to write something! My favorite books are the ones with strong heroines, but that is not the case here—-very disappointing given the book summary. I only made it to chapter 4 and had to stop. The “hero” came off as the douchebag. I don’t mean the kind of character you don’t love to hate in books—- he’s the character you just hate. Sexist and chauvinism at its best. The “heroine” was just wishy washy and ready to cave to whatever Mr. Douchebag wanted. Sorry but this was just horrible.
