Story
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

The 5-star reviews are not wrong

I wouldn’t even be able to do justice to a review for this book. It’s an excellent read and the other reviews are spot on. I just wanted to make sure my five stars got added to the ever growing list of high praise. Every woman should read this book.

Story
Evan Smoak is a highly trained former government assassin who has survived for years by keeping his circle to a few trusted confidants and a strict code he calls “The Ten Commandments.” But when Evan suddenly finds himself at odds with his oldest friend, all the rules he lives by shatter—and the consequences are murderous. Tommy Stojack might be Evan's best friend in the world. He’s a gifted gunsmith who has created much of Evan's own weapons and combat gear. But now, he has apparently crossed one of Evan's hardest lines and their argument explodes into open warfare.

Best X Yet

How do you write a novel where Orphan X is at odds with Tommy Stojack??? Impossible? No. You do it exactly the way Greg Hurwitz did. I had no idea where this plot would go and the author absolutely delivered the goods. Well done, Mr. Hurwitz. Well done. Scott Brick gives an exceptional performance, especially with so much written from Tommy’s perspective. Can’t wait for the next book.

I listen to a lot of books, and don’t usually leave a review but find that I MUST review this one. Absolute page turner… from start to finish. I started listening in the morning and couldn’t stop until I finished it the same day. The story line can be disturbing but a twist at the end makes you wonder WTH??? Just…wow. Exceptional work by Ms. Hoover. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know and talking about it for a long time. Wow.

Story
Cassandra Penelope Dankworth is a creature of habit. She likes what she likes (museums, jumpsuits, her boyfriend, Will) and strongly dislikes what she doesn't (mess, change, her boss drinking out of her mug). Her life runs in a pleasing, predictable order…until now. Then, something truly unexpected happens: Cassie discovers she can go back and change the past. One small rewind at a time, Cassie attempts to fix the life she accidentally obliterated, but soon she'll discover she's trying to fix all the wrong things.

This book was so cute! I love how blunt the main character was and it made me laugh out loud, wishing the world was more like her. There were a couple of sections where I felt it was moving a bit slow, but then something would happen, and the pace would pick up again. Regardless, I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a light read that will make you laugh out loud and appreciate watching the heroine come full circle.

Story
America is under attack. Thousands lie dead after simultaneous strikes across the country. The day will come to be known as Bloody Monday. Jason Trapp, codename ‘Hangman’, was a covert operative whose feats became the stuff of legend. He was the tip of the spear—the man his country unleashed when all hope was lost. Six months ago, someone sold him out. The Agency listed him as killed in action. He lost everything—and everyone—he held dear. But Trapp’s not that easy to kill.

I have been looking for another series to read that keeps my interest as well as the orphan X novels. This one fits the bill. Finally! Narration was well done and the plot pacing was on par with Orphan X books. Just finished listening to this book and I am going right now to download the second book. I am pretty sure Jack’s later will become another one of my favorite authors!
