The explosive new thriller from New York Times best-selling author and master of the medical thriller, Robin Cook. Lynn Peirce, a fourth-year medical student at South Carolina’s Mason-Dixon University, thinks she has her life figured out. But when her otherwise healthy boyfriend, Carl, enters the hospital for routine surgery, her neatly ordered life is thrown into total chaos. Carl fails to return to consciousness after the procedure, and an MRI confirms brain death. Devastated by Carl’s condition, Lynn searches for answers.

Gutter language and shallow plot
Reviewed: 10-29-15
I strongly dislike books with a great deal of swearing. This book used the F word constantly. It (and all the other language) added nothing to the story, but instead brought clearly to light the author's poor vocabulary. For, when words are your craft, surely you can choose those which build your plot and suspense, without reaching down into the gutter for the dirty and the common. And the plot -meh.

Story
Vera’s spent her whole life secretly in love with her best friend, Charlie Kahn. And over the years she’s kept a lot of his secrets. Even after he betrayed her. Even after he ruined everything. So when Charlie dies in dark circumstances, Vera knows a lot more than anyone - the kids at school, his family, even the police. But will she emerge to clear his name? Does she even want to? Edgy and gripping, Please Ignore Vera Dietz is an unforgettable novel: Smart, funny, dramatic, and always surprising.

Not my cup of tea

What disappointed you about Please Ignore Vera Dietz?
There was an extreme amount of cussing. It was also a pretty depressing story line dealing with a lot of heavy topics.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Possibly Paper Towns by John Greene
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I suppose.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I think that there was some good to the story. I think that the main character had the potential to rise above her circumstances.
