Story
In a world of data manipulation and cyber spying, an information specialist finds that the supernatural lurks! A major revision of Spoor's first novel, Digital Knight, with all new material. Being an expert in information searches, image processing and enhancement, pattern matching, and data forensics earned Jason Wood a lot of money - from private contracts and working with the police. And it was a nice, comfortable job most of the time.

Excellent series of novellas in one volume.

I had the pleasure of reading an earlier version of this book when it was called "Digital Knight" some 12 or so years ago. I spent some time looking for it on the Audible site and found this updated and longer version. It is a very good story, and I would like more, the only thing to keep in mind is that it is not written as one story or adventure, but as a series of stories or adventures. It brings to mind a serialized version of 2 or 3 seasons of a tv show that has a number of related stories per season.
The book comes to an end but it does not feel like THE end, and I would not hesitate to get more stories set in this world should any more be written.

Story
To the Kleese, the Earth is nothing more than a planet full of conscripts to fight in their numerous wars of aggression. The Kleese are one of three large Galactic Empires that control the majority of the galaxy. To them, Earth is an extremely dangerous planet due to the aggressiveness of the humanoid species that inhabits it. The humans that inhabit Earth will make excellent conscripts, but something must be done to prevent them from expanding out into the galaxy.

A so-so story, but a terrible reader.

The story is just ok, something for younger readers, except for some of the violence, maybe. The major problem is the utter lack of pace the reader had. Everything was read as if it were the climax of the book. Imagine that every sentence was written with all caps and an exclamation point. It is a pity as the reader had decent accents and a pleasant enough voice but after 20 minutes it really started to grate on ones nerves. On the plus side, the excessive speed meant that the book was over sooner. I do however wish the reader and writer well on their future projects.

Story
What price victory? The war with the Republic of Haven has resumed . . . disastrously for the Star Kingdom of Manticore. Admiral Lady Dame Honor Harrington, Steadholder and Duchess Harrington, the single victorious Allied commander of the opening phase of the new war, has been recalled from the Sidemore System to command Eighth Fleet. Everyone knows Eighth Fleet is the Alliance's primary offensive command, which makes it the natural assignment for the woman the media calls "the Salamander."

Disappointing read of a good author

The reader. I could not finish this book. I love the series, and I had listened to the audio books read by...I think it was Madaline Bizzard, and it was not perfect, but WAY better than this one. I sadly could not bring myself to listening beyond the first hour. The different character "voices" seemed forced and the pronunciation was jarring. And little things also drag me out of the story, like the adjective for manticore "Man-Tah-Kor" which is pronounced "Man-Tah-Kor-in" coming our as "Man-Tick-Or-In". As the main character is in the Martacoran Navy, is a Mantacoran citizen using Manticoran technology as well as a Mantacoran nobel, the word comes up a lot.
