Story
Casey Fletcher, a recently widowed actress trying to escape a streak of bad press, has retreated to the peace and quiet of her family’s lake house in Vermont. Armed with a pair of binoculars and several bottles of bourbon, she passes the time watching Tom and Katherine Royce, the glamorous couple living in the house across the lake. They make for good viewing—a tech innovator, Tom is powerful; and a former model, Katherine is gorgeous.

Terrible Narration Choice...

Really good book but I did the audio version and the narrator was 1000000% the wrong choice...Sounded like an old woman who smoked 2 packs a day mixed with a computer generated voice.

Intriguing

I really enjoyed this book and kept finding myself wanting to constantly listen rather than do things that I should be doing. haha
I do have to admit the narrator mispronounced a couple of words and I did find it quite annoying but I was able to get past it as it was only a couple of times throughout the entire book. Overall I would definitely recommend giving this book a shot.

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

too long

The end was really good but it was way too long. Maybe I should have found the abridged version. Was sad about leaving this review because normally I really enjoy Stephen King books and this was well reviewed. Take this for what it's worth.

Story
It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.
