Story
High school senior Andrew Perrault finds refuge in the twisted fairy tales that he writes for the only person who can ground him to reality—Thomas Rye, the boy with perpetually ink-stained hands and hair like autumn leaves. And with his twin sister, Dove, inexplicably keeping him at a cold distance upon their return to Wickwood Academy, Andrew finds himself leaning on his friend even more. But something strange is going on with Thomas. His abusive parents have mysteriously vanished, and he arrives at school with blood on his sleeve.

Michael Crouch's narration elevated this story. It was beautifully written, the audiobook performance was amazing, I just wasn't crazy about the ending. But, the story does linger in your mind.

Stacey Lind has such a lovely musicality to her narration and it lends itself well to this fantastical story. Her character voices are well developed and easy to follow. The story itself wasn't really cup of tea, but Stacey's narration made it bearable.

it's criminal how much I loved this audio. Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden do a phenomenal job and the way the audio was produced was amazing. Love a good duet, but the addition of the vocal reacts? The laughs, groans, screams, etc just made it amazing.
now to wait for the next book 🫠

I can see why they made it a TV show

I can definitely see why they adapted this story into a TV series. The story itself is interesting, there are a few things that I wasn't a huge fan of, but overall entertaining. The narration by Alan Carlson was AMAZING! Character voices were distinct and just his overall tone draws you into the story. I really enjoyed his performance.

Story
When a strange tear in the cosmos appears within Earth’s annual path, the consequences are disastrous. For one night a year, the vast majority of humans now undergo a frightening mental change, transforming into hateful, rage-fueled zombies who will stop at nothing to satiate their desire for brutality. While not much is understood about this horrific mass hysteria, the demographic it effects is very specific: cisgender straight people.

Story
The history of the world is in jeopardy in this science fiction about the earth’s dark future. The year is 892 NE, nearly nine hundred years after the Black Sun Era—a catastrophic event that reduced the human population and left the world in darkness. Author and Magi Sadiyeh Mhalabiyeh’s greatest idea came to her while she was in the emergency room bleeding to death from self-inflicted wounds. But new laws prevent her from publishing her book about space. When the leader of the werewolf mafia agrees to publish her work, Sadiyeh must decide who she can trust.

Overall, I liked this book. The narrator is amazing, Stacey Lind's character voices are distinct and you can tell who is speaking in conversations. There were some slow parts, but Lind's performance kept me engaged enough to keep listening. I wasn't crazy about the end. My favorite characters were Tetsu and Conner, I sort of wish there was a prequel that tells how they met <3 I would probably pick up another book set in this world with different characters

Story
Crest is not excited to be on their Journey: the month-long sojourn on land all teen merfolk must undergo. The rules are simple: Help a human within one moon cycle and return to Pacifica to become an Elder—or fail and remain stuck on land forever. Crest is eager to get their Journey over and done with. Humans are disgusting. They’ve polluted the planet so much that there’s a floating island of trash that’s literally the size of a country.

Narrators we're fin-tastic
Reviewed: 06-19-22
This started off so strong. I liked the main characters, the premise was interesting and I liked the movie references. However, Sean's obsession with his ex got old real fast, and how everyone fixated on Sean's thighs was weird. I also felt like how Ross acted toward the end of the book didn't really match his character (petty, jealous, possessive).
I love how Sean and Ross/Crest checked in with each other and got consent. The diversity in the book was great. Points for touching on some mental health issues.
The narrators were the highlight of this book. Both did an amazing job bringing the characters to life and they matched each other well, especially for a dual narration. I could listen to André Santana all day!

Great narration
Reviewed: 03-16-22
I struggled to get into this book, the only thing that kept me going was the fabulous narration by Stacey Lind. The events of this book happen at whiplash speed and it was sometimes hard to keep up. I also wish that the relationship development between Dav and Warden had been fleshed out more in the beginning. He went from being an asshole to kissing her, it felt sort of forced.
The story was enjoyable once I got deeper into the book. It's witty and the action scenes are great.
I received a free copy of this book and leaving my honest review.
