Story
There are three rules in Black River Falls: Don’t break curfew unless you want the monsters to find you. Don’t ask questions, no matter what. And when someone goes missing, don’t go looking. Joey Barnes obeyed those rules, until the day her mother vanished without a trace. She’s spent two years secretly hunting for clues, and she’s discovered plenty of things that don’t make sense, even for Black River Falls.

This author really knows how to evolve her characters. You are really drawn into their lives. You care about them and want to know what will happen. I have read several books now, all with very different plots and each one has been so satisfying.

I had a hard time getting into this story at first. Each character was really hard to like at first. But I was interested in knowing what was happening. There was enough to pull me in, make me curious. After a rough beginning I was hooked. What happened to Ellie? What was going on with Floyd? Poppy? I was glad to get closure in the end. The characters could have had more depth, been more developed somehow. None of them were very likable.

Story
Ten years ago, six friends went on vacation. One made it out alive... In that instant, college student Quincy Carpenter became a member of a very exclusive club - a group of survivors the press dubbed “The Final Girls”: Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who endured the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape the massacre at Pine Cottage. Despite the media's attempts, the three girls have never met.

Story
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

I loved the performance! January Lavoy does such a great job doing different voices for each character you are completely into the story. Her voice for CiCi reminded me so much of Stockard Chaning I had to look at who was narrating to be sure it wasn’t her. Every part of the story gets you into what is happening right then and there. The beginning starts with teenagers going to a movie at the mall wrapped up in their teen age lives until the shooting starts and you are caught until the end of the story. I enjoyed this book more than any other I’ve listened to in a while. I listen to at least 1 book a week.
