Ruth Edna Kelley was an American librarian and author. She is fondly remembered for The Book of Hallowe'en, the first book-length history of the holiday.

Not sure why quotes from Europeans/white Americans are said with no accent by the narrator but quotes from African Americans are said with an accent verging on stereotype...

Pretty Good

Occasionally bogged down by too many details and lackluster stories, the majority of The Progress City Primer is a fun listen. You'll learn interesting tidbits about Walt Disney and his theme parks (my favorite section being about Pooh for President) and it's a great way to get excited for an upcoming trip.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Great Listen

Where does The Martian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the absolute best audiobooks I've listened to, and has completely spoiled me for all future ones. Not sure I would want to enjoy this work in any other way--it's like this story was made for audiobook.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Beck. He was just kind of sweet.
Which scene was your favorite?
The last scene. I won't give anything away, but I was entranced.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I spread this one out for a while, and picking back up on it was fine. There were several times where I felt like I had to keep listening because it was particularly intense, but there was always a denouement, or pause in the action where I could put it down.
