This story was interesting but repetitive in many instances. The narrator was also boring.

Engaging story but misleading title. This is not a charming story taking place around the holiday.

Where does The Shoemaker's Wife rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am never diappointed by Adriana Trigiani and I consider this to be among her very best.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline was captivating from the very beginning. It begins with the two main characters as children in Italy and follows them throughout their lives as they immigrate to America as young adults. Their chance meetings change the direction of the story and keep you guessing as to the outcome. It reads like historical fiction (my favorite) and gives a good picture of the time with interesting and accurate details.

What about Annabella Sciorra and Adriana Trigiani ’s performance did you like?

I would have preferred having one narrator. At some point the second reader (I'm not sure which) takes over and finishes the story. Her voice is not as flavorful and the Italian pronunciation not as spot on.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It may have been easier to keep up with the story listening to it in one setting. It is fast paced and you need to be alert to the changes.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this powerful love story. I have been purposely vague because I wouldn't want to spoil any of the many surprises and turns. I enjoy Trigiani because she is a very talented writer who doesn't cross the line into vulgarity as so many do now. I highly recommend it and it would be appropriate for older teens, as well.
