Story
For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

Urban fantasy or Green Peace propaganda?
Reviewed: 04-28-23
The apolitical movement has its merits. Many of us read or listen to novels like this to get away from the constant assualt of personal and civil liberties through seemingly benign or noble prospects. Not to listen to entire chapters of finger-pointing propaganda. This was likely the last book in the ID saga for me.

Story
I've had to move out of the city and into the house I inherited here, in the idyllic fishing village of Porthcove, but only for as long as it takes to sell it. You see, I need the money, so I've started seeing some of the locals, you know, as patients, but I tell you, there's something really disturbing about charming neighbors sharing chilling secrets. And it isn't just that. It's the other things. Strange, inexplicable things. It started with odd smells, creepy sounds, and then the intruders...oh God, the intruders.

The book is definitely not a one star as some have directly or indirectly stated but it is long and could probably be half as long without huge losses to the plot or story line. That said If I had wrote it, I would be very proud of it.

Why would you swap Narrators mid stride?
Reviewed: 09-22-21
The book is a Weisman book so even if it wasn't as epic as the first, its good Magic lore. I can't understand why they would switch narrators in the middle of a series. Not that she is bad but it unnecessarily changed the flavor of the series.

I have heard this compared to Dresden, and while similarities do exist it is most definitely its own thing. Admittedly, there are some elements of both Dresden and a darker version of Harry Potter but the work possess its own charm. Not only that but Ben Reader seemed to hit his stride in the story very early on. If you remember early Dresden books some of them took awhile to improve. To boil it down, it's modern fantasy done well, very well if your ok with the teenage elements. Also, I wasn't sure about the narrarator in the beginning but he grew on me by the end of the book and overall did an excellent job.

I want to lead with something. Politically, the country I reside in is a dichotomy of seldom correct but always confident polar opposites at the citzen level and a conglomerate of global elite actors playing their roles largely for personal gain at the government level. I found it distasteful that a higly liberal film and literary icon suffers from a personal psychosis deep enough to make the ultimate bad guy a right leaning pedophile. It is almost comical when you look at this from the psychological perspective of the author and compare it to comments I have read that he has made. Perhaps especially in the arts, we should consider putting our swords down.
But... the book is well written, intriguing and something I would recommend. Not to mention the work is somewhat inspiring to those in the future that may type a few words on a page. Buy and enjoy.
