I love the main character of this series.

I really liked all aspects of this book. I've read all but the last 2 books of this series but somehow missed this earlier book. The narrative was decent.

Story
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Best Ever Escape From Reality
Reviewed: 05-04-23
I was looking for a story where I could just escape for a while. This story accomplished that perfectly. The story wasn't too long, was funny, and unlike some paranormal books, was written with an independent, intelligent, strong woman lead that had a likable personality. I was expecting an OK story and was pleasantly surprised with a really entertaining fun listen. If you like fantasy, romance, and humor, you should enjoy this audio book.

Story
Chet and Bernie are contacted by a terribly scared young woman who seems to want their help. Before she can even tell them her name, she flees in panic. But in that brief meeting Chet sniffs out an important secret about her, a secret at the heart of the mystery he and Bernie set out to solve. It's a case with no client and no crime and yet great danger, with the duo facing a powerful politician who has a lot to lose.

I Love the Chet and Bernie Stories
Reviewed: 03-25-23
I have read many of this series books and received so many pleasurable moments from them. I now have switched to audio books as I've started losing my sight. I am so grateful these books are offered in this format so I can continue to enjoy them. This wasn't my favorite book of the series but felt it deserved five stars for the humor, character development, including what might be a new love interest for Bernie, and interesting mystery. As always Chets part in the story makes it special.

Story
Being a suspect in the murder of her ex-lawyer is not the fun Doreen thought it would be. And, of course, she’s been ordered to stay away from the case, but she can’t help being interested. So, she enlists Mack’s brother, Nick - her new lawyer - to help. Mack’s first priority is to clear Doreen as a suspect. No one in their right mind would seriously believe she’d done the deed, of course.

Not Up To Previous Books In Series
Reviewed: 01-05-23
I've listened to each of the books in this series from A through M and truly enjoyed all of them. This book, however, did not live up to the rest. Doreen's character was really irritating at times. She never appreciates Mack and all he does for her but in this book that comes through time and again. At this point in time I feel Doreen should also be less ignorant about cooking and be trying to cook and eat more. I also feel like she was being very gullible and taking unneeded chances with her ex husband. All around this book was just not written as well as the previous books. Hopefully the author will move Doreen's character forward more in the upcoming books.
