Get ready for scenarios and probability. Written in the 1970's, this book was certainly ahead of its time and is very much relevant to today. It even profferred a new word /concept - the meme - in use today. There are some updated comments in response to what Richard previously wrote (that are made known as the book progresses) which add to the quality of this thesis / book and often very funny.

What would have made Charlemagne better?

Only can handle so much religion based issues. I am the wrong person for this book. Struck the wrong chord from the beginning and kept banging on in a similar fashion thereafter. Think narrator did not help one bit.

What made the experience of listening to 1776 the most enjoyable?

It was a bit of a slog to get through. Perhaps my expectations were out of sink. I think it would have been better if I had more background knowledge / perspective of the period as is very detailed over a very narrow period of time - but hey the title is about 1 year - silly me.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Making of Modern Economics to be better than the print version?

I really enjoyed this book when I listen to it a couple of years ago. It is large but gives a very nice mix of history/biography of the main characters mixed with theory on economics. Bravo !

Would you try another book from Benjamin Franklin and/or Kent Mackamy?

I might grab the biography at some point judging from others reviews. Merits include historical perspective and a few timeless points.

If you could sum up The Second World War: The Grand Alliance in three words, what would they be?

Great series - perhaps the last edition a little weaker than the rest owing to Churchill's weakened position/ access to power

Would you listen to The Twelve Caesars again? Why?

Interesting but a little tedious. Lots of nasty tales. I wonder how reliable are the records of that time ?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Have put aside after going through 3/4 of book. I did not want to listen to any more of the progressive demise of an innocent character.

Have listened to the available 3 books. All are terrific, and hope the final book gets produced. A critical period in history written beautifully by a key man of that time.
