Story
There is no bigger public health story now than the collapse in youth mental health. The numbers are terrifying and dominate our headlines. There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

Laid off from her department store job, Carmen has perilously little cash and few options. The prospect of spending Christmas with her perfect sister Sofia, in Sofia’s perfect house with her perfect children and her perfectly ordered yuppie life, does not appeal. Frankly, Sofia doesn’t exactly want her prickly sister Carmen there, either. Story
This “authentic, generous, and heartfelt” (Mary Kay Andrews, New York Times best-selling author) novel from the New York Times best-selling author of the Beach House series explores how new beginnings can be born from disasters and how, even during the worst of circumstances - or perhaps because of them - we discover what is most important in life.

not my favorite from Mary Alice

It felt like there were too many characters to keep track of. Cara and David seemed out of place in this story and as if it was a forced tie-in right at the end. I kept wondering how this was going to work and if at all. I didn't fall in love with any of the characters and felt they were almost like very arrogant and not relatable. I finished listening because I love all of her books and didn't want to miss out on one of them, but I will definitely say this is my least favorite of them all.

Story
Not only do Southerners talk slowly, but sometimes the whole language is hard to understand. No one realizes that more than Memphis belle Leelee Satterfield. Watching her tackle life and love in Vermont was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to antics, charades, mischief, and romance. Now that she’s back in Memphis, and starting a new relationship with Peter, the Yankee chef from her New England inn, you’d think she’d sit back and enjoy her newly crafted life back home in Dixie. But that just wouldn’t be as much fun.

I really enjoyed the first 2 in this series and the reader did an amazing job. She made everything sound so real and the true emotions came through clearly. I looked forward to listening daily. The author does not do her own book justice. I was so disappointed to have different voices for the characters in the final book of a series after already having the same voices in the previous books. Also when knowing it is the author's voice and the way she reads the book aloud makes it so that the characters seem dumb and stupid and as if she thinks they do not measure up to her (especially those from Vermont or one with a speech impairment), it makes me question the character of the author. It made me think this is how she really expected them to be seen. I found it quite offensive. I would love to relisten to the book if it is with the original reader but I would never listen to anything that this author reads again and I don't think I will purchase another one of her books at all after listening to her read this one. also the third book repeats way too much of what is told in the first two books. I can't imagine many people read only the third book without having read the first two so I don't think it's necessary to retell so much of the first two stories.
