Story
Barely a month since his promotion to Inspector, DI Ford is called in to investigate the murder of a young nurse and her son in a small flat in Salisbury. There are few clues, and no apparent motive, but Ford can sense that there's a serial killer at work. After all, he knows from brutal personal experience how killers cover their tracks.... It's been six years since Ford lost his wife in a climbing accident - an accident he caused. He is desperate to keep the truth hidden, especially from his son, Sam.

Boring!

Excruciatingly boring! I do about 40 audible books a year and usually get through one in a week or less. this one too several weeks. Didn't dare listen to it when I was driving! ZZZZ!

Story
The year is 2018 - a highly volatile nuclear world. Israel has obliterated the deep underground nuclear weapons facility built by Iran. The United States has destroyed the nuclear facility of a defiant North Korea. The Russians have upped the stakes in the latest world power-play - cyber warfare - to reduce the US to helplessness: a three-strike missile attack on the National Security Agency at Fort Mead, Maryland, while simultaneously jamming the top-secret electronic access key to America’s nuclear launch system.

Adequate Story, Substandard Narration
Reviewed: 07-01-21
The stories are okay but not up to par with many other authors of this genre. It seems that the author wrote the book to impart a lot of the facts he's learned about the military and espionage but forgets to tell the story.
The narration is substandard. For example, I didn't know that Russians speak in a Scottish Brogue!

Story
The Unexpected Spy is the riveting story of Walder's tenure in the CIA and, later, the FBI. In high-security, steel-walled rooms in Virginia, Walder watched al-Qaeda members with drones as President Bush looked over her shoulder and CIA Director George Tenet brought her donuts. She tracked chemical terrorists and searched the world for Weapons of Mass Destruction. She created a chemical terror chart that someone in the White House altered to convey information she did not have or believe, leading to the Iraq invasion.

Ehh

Not the best written book. Narration struggles. A book by a person trying to find value in her life to recover from being bullied. She seems to see herself as a victim on a regular basis. Lesson here is to learn how not to be, or see yourself as, a victim. Bullies are everywhere in life. Learn not to be a victim. But contained some good info.
