Story
When her whole life collapsed, Rae still had books. Dying, she seizes a second chance at living: a magical bargain that lets her enter the world of her favorite fantasy series. She wakes in a castle on the edge of a hellish chasm, in a kingdom on the brink of war. Home to dangerous monsters, scheming courtiers and her favourite fictional character: the Once and Forever Emperor. He’s impossibly alluring, as only fiction can be. And in this fantasy world, she discovers she's not the heroine, but the villainess in the Emperor's tale.

Outstanding

Possibly one of the most well crafted, imaginative fantasy books I’ve read in a long time. A love letter to villains and their untold stories/perspectives (similar in that way to Wicked by Gregory Maguire). With humor, twists, relatable characters, and so much personality. The kind of book that will make you immediately want to read it again with new eyes as soon as you turn over the last page. I chose this book because I’m a huge fan of Moira Quirk (the narrator) from the Locked Tomb Series (my all time favorite book series) and she was spectacular in this reading as well. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Story
When Martha Einkorn fled her father’s isolated compound in Oregon, she never expected to find herself working for a powerful social media mogul hell-bent on controlling everything. Now, she’s surrounded by mega-rich companies designing private weather, predictive analytics, and covert weaponry, while spouting technological prophecy. Martha may have left the cult, but if the apocalyptic warnings in her father’s fox and rabbit sermon—once a parable to her—are starting to come true, how much future is actually left?

A unique (and hopeful?) account of the apocalypse

Woah! What a story!

Intense and intelligent. This book is incredible. I was blown away by the twists and intricacies. If only our real world billionaires were willing to invest in our communities and in the planet the way Alderman’s protagonists are able to envision doing.

Her Aunt Penelope has just died, and Penny's presence is required in London for the reading of the will. With only a slim recollection of her eccentric aunt, Penny is astonished to learn that not only is she the bona fide heiress - but she's also been invited to put her research skills to work.

An unexpected surprise

I loved this book! I just became a romance club member through audible in the last month. I’m not sure I’m actually a romance lover, but I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve tried several different books in the category, and just stumbled upon this one. I’m really not sure why it’s considered a romance novel because it’s such a wonderful adventure/mystery. It does have some romance in it but it is not at all what I would expect in that category. The story was wonderful fun and had lots of twists and turns. The characters were also interesting and fun. I would highly recommend this as a nice sweet adventure/mystery for anyone looking for something fun to read.
