Loved the story of empowerment, told in a humorous and beautiful way. Great book! Really fun to hear the author at the end.

Story
Summer is coming to a close on the East End of Long Island, and Alex is no longer welcome. A misstep at a dinner party, and the older man she’s been staying with dismisses her with a ride to the train station and a ticket back to the city. With few resources and a waterlogged phone, but gifted with an ability to navigate the desires of others, Alex stays on Long Island and drifts like a ghost through the hedged lanes, gated driveways, and sun-blasted dunes of a rarefied world that is, at first, closed to her.

Story with no ending
Reviewed: 07-13-23
You know when someone tells a long story about boring people you don’t care about? But then, they start to get a little interesting and you’ve listened so long that you’re invested and you hope if you just keep listening to the bitter end, you can envision a possible scenario when their story lines connect and things could get nuts? But then the person telling the story stops talking, walks away suddenly for no reason, and you’re left staring at them walking away with your mouth open. That’s this book.
