I love Mary E Pearson’s writing in her stories and her character development. I often think the final book of a series can be rushed when authors figure out how to end, but she does a great job with this third book answering some questions we’ve had, keeping some intrigue into what will happen next to keep the book exciting, but also keeping some things open at the end for the imagination. (Or to be answered in her Duology vow of thieves and dance of thieves which I also love!!) This is a trilogy I can read over and over and never tire of! Love her characters and storyline. The audiobook is excellent! I recommend it to everyone I know wants a good romance adventure series.

This was such a sweet story of two unlikely characters finding their way together. It was a slow burn but kept me wanting to keep listening. The narration was perfect. I only wish there were more books to enjoy with Philippa and Miles.

Very sweet but lack of communication was frustrating

Let me start out by saying I listened to the book in almost an entire day. It was entertaining enough for me to want to keep listening. The characters were interesting and the story line unique. A few frustrations were the communication issues between the main characters. You just want to shake them both! I found myself feeling like Carter (the husband) was stuck up and condescending to Miranda… but then when I would repeat his same lines in my head a different way, and then he didn’t sound so stuck up. While I think the narrator was wonderful with accents, her voicing of Carter really annoyed me at times. I think he was meant to be much sweeter than she read him as. If I had read the book I think I would have liked his character much more. Overall I enjoyed reading this book!
