Story
War with the Nation of Darkness is inevitable—or so the Theocracy’s leaders believe with every part of their beings. Too much time world building
Reviewed: 02-08-25
Love the story and Chris’s performances as always. I’m Just sad that there is one written volume left and it ends at 18. Seems too much time was spent on world building for a grander scheme that will not take place.

Story
Vampires: murderous creatures in the shape of humans, they stalk the night feeding on the blood of innocents. Seemingly immortal, they can be destroyed only by the use of a stake through the heart, severing of their heads, or exposure to sunlight. By the year AD 12,090, vampires have ruled the Earth for almost 300 years, and it is only these weaknesses that have kept these foul monsters from totally overrunning the world. But what happens when those rules no longer apply?

Extraordinary Improvement with Actor
Reviewed: 05-03-23
When I first was listening, was extremely impressed. I thought the voice actor/reader had finally fixed his issues and improved, he even made better differentiations of characters.
Some voices were so drastic I couldn’t believe it, however every so often he would call Filo (fee low) Filoh ( figh low). So I checked and noticed they changed the actor.
He does a great job with the reading, makes it engaging and entertaining. I think he needs to check out the manga or anime though, when he gets to Erhard (the old guy) he breathes life of a crotchety old wizard into the rough and tough blacksmith. Naofumi refers to Erhard as “old guy” because of their age gap but it’s not the voice he uses. This is a good complaint as the actor can reach all types of characters.
Therese and Filo names getting mispronounced was the only other annoying thing that would pop up.
The story is great and if you haven’t been reading the light novels, they go into deeper details and have different things from the anime (such as the end battle) which is sad because some of the things they exclude would have been awesome to have seen.
Great job!

A group of "workers" whose better judgement has been clouded by hopes and expectations have descended into the unknown depths of a mysterious tomb. These trespassers include the small but elite team Foresight, the storied warriors of Heavy Masher, the crew lead by a legendary elder worker, Green Leaf, and the invincible swordsmen of Angel. They are some of the best that can be hired, but as more and more vengeful residents of Nazarrick appear, will any make it out alive?

Great performance as always! I really enjoyed this one because of all the events that transpire with the workers. Heading the more intimate details and recalling the anime really made it terrifying. Loved it. Plus that epilogue really hits hard.

I feel the reader’s voice and way of reading offset a lot for me. His reading of the spear hero chapter is much better suited for him. The falsetto voices worked in beginning when Raphtalia was young.
