Story
In The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, Amy mines her past for stories about her teenage years, her family, relationships, and sex and shares the experiences that have shaped who she is - a woman with the courage to bare her soul to stand up for what she believes in, all while making us laugh. Down to earth and relatable, frank and unapologetic, Amy Schumer is one of us: She relies on her sister for advice, still hangs out with her high school pals, and continues to navigate the ever-changing boundaries in love, work, and life.

Much deeper than the usual celeb book
Reviewed: 08-18-16
Her performance is much more restrained than her stage personality, but I found it very listenable. The story is pretty great. Yes, funny, but there are lots of not-so-funny chapters that I found very moving. Overall, this is the best celebrity book I've read/listened to since Bossypants.

Story
Audie Award, Humor, 2016. In Furiously Happy, number-one New York Times best-selling author Jenny Lawson explores her lifelong battle with mental illness. A hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety? That sounds like a terrible idea. But terrible ideas are what Jenny does best.

Incredibly irritating to listen to
Reviewed: 08-17-16
Maybe it's just my personal taste, but I can't stand her voice. I think she is trying too hard to come across as funny and witty, and in my opinion comes across as outrageously irritating. I have tried multiple times to get more than a third of the way through this book, but I can't. Also, parts of the book do not translate well to audio listening: for example, multiple chapters have dialogue between her and Victor, and I had to skip through them because the format was incredibly tedious to listen to. I too struggle with mental illness, so I really wanted to relate to her, but I mostly felt bothered.

Story
Andi Dorfman, star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, talks candidly about what it's like to be courted by 25 handsome single men in this juicy insider's peek at dating - and breaking up - on national TV. She shares entertaining and heartfelt stories about her fellow Bachelor alums - many of who are still close friends - comes clean about calling out bachelor number 18, Juan Pablo, for bad behavior, and reflects on her personal challenges.

(Very) occasionally meaningful, but on the whole, fluff
Reviewed: 08-17-16
I have really mixed feelings about this. I think she has important things to say to young women about emotional abuse, and recognizing and standing up to manipulative, controlling partners. But at the same time, this book is remarkably shallow. I was pretty appalled at the overly critical and judgmental remarks she made about her own body. She seems a little too immature to have [probably ghost-] written a book, and not distant enough from her breakup to be 1) over it, and 2) shelling out advice to (probably) very young people. Overall, this book is total fluff, and I think it's decent fun. I listen to it to zone out – it's definitely not a critical thinking type of read/listen. Her performance is fine, verging on annoying. She speaks as though she's humble-brag gossiping to a friend. Depending on who you are, it could be grating, or it could be fun and familiar (personally, I wavered between both). I still think Andi is one of the more intelligent, self aware Bachelorettes, but this book definitely made me realize she lives in a sorority girl fantasy world.
