Story
We are in the midst of an obesity epidemic, but despite being inundated with diet advice we are only getting fatter. We count calories and exercise regularly, yet still the pounds won't budge. Why? In this highly enjoyable and provocative book, Dr Jason Fung sets out a groundbreaking new theory: that obesity is caused by our hormones, rather than a lack of self-control. He reveals that overproduction of insulin in the body is the root cause of obesity and obesity-related illnesses including type 2 diabetes

There’s so much research dispelling all the diet myths we’ve been fed. Jason Fung does a sterling job of putting all the facts together (from reputable publications) and identifying the underlying issues causing obesity.
Such a great book. I highly recommend it!

A life changing experience!
Reviewed: 05-30-21
I was first diagnosed with Lyme disease (goes by rickettsia in Africa - a tick borne illness) in 2012 after 3 years of chronic fatigue (and many misdiagnoses). The doctor that diagnosed me, also from Belgian (Dr Gerin) fortunately lives in South Africa. His wife wrote a book about rickettsia (A Disease called Fatigue by Dr Jardin), her father had also studied the disease extensively. Thank goodness these masterminds live in Africa as they have been life saving!
I had a very busy / stressful career purchasing movies for a large pay TV network and travelling became more and more difficult. I needed to make some drastic changes to my career and personal life.
I always fought against the disease, pushing myself when I felt weak and being so hard on myself for being so “weak”. It was also so hard for family and friends to understand and I often felt like they didn’t believe me. And that I should just take the antidepressant all the doctors said I should take (their idea of a cure for chronic fatigue syndrome).
I too have spent thousands trying to find a cure to life a healthy, fit and balanced life. There are great insights into some treatment protocols in this book that I will try out.
Whilst I had dealt with a lot of the physical issues this disease has brought up, I realised in the process of listening to this book I had not dealt with the emotional side. I cried so much in this book, it was so beautiful to release all this pent up sadness. I have realised the enormous strength and resilience this disease requires and how difficult it is to live and maintain a “normal” life. And that it is a life long process.
Thank you Yolanda and Daisy for helping me deal with the emotional side of this devastating disease. Your strength and determination have been liberating and I am beyond grateful to you for bringing awareness to this debilitating disease.
