Story
The Three Doctors, Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt, discovered early in their friendship that they shared one disturbing trait: as children, they had to navigate life in inner-city Newark without a father's support and guidance. While each young man dealt with the turmoil caused by an absent father, with no male role model to turn to for advice, each veered dangerously close to a life of delinquency, drugs, and crime. But despite great odds, the three overcame the statistics.

Incredible Insight & Perspective
Reviewed: 12-15-20
I can’t express how impactful this book is. It hold so much potential and empowers “fatherless” sons to reconsider engaging with their father despite hardships as a child and their lack if presence. Thoroughly enjoyed the unique perspective it provided of the fathers experiences including that of their own childhood and upbringing as you can see that it typically stemmed from their own environment and lack of exposure to a male role model when they were growing up. It provides hope for the chance of reconciliation as well as providing insight into how to break the cycle from perpetuating. Absolutely phenomenal read and would recommend for everyone. Reminds us that all parents were first children and we are all human and make mistakes, but it’s never too late to change now and be better in your future!

Story
“You cannot fix a problem you do not know you have.” So begins Emmanuel Acho in his essential guide to the truths Americans need to know to address the systemic racism that has recently electrified protests in all fifty states. In Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man, Acho takes on all the questions, large and small, insensitive and taboo, many white Americans are afraid to ask—yet which all Americans need the answers to, now more than ever.

Incredible extension to continue the conversation

I thoroughly enjoy each episode of Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man! I could have been more excited to hear the book when it was released. I appreciated Emmanuel taking questions that were provoked from the videos and doing deeper dives to further the perspective. The video productions always leave me wanting more and this is no different. I can’t wait to see more of his work as he looks to breakdown barriers in society!
