Departure from Sigma Force, though very enjoyable!
Reviewed: 02-21-22
I was a bit disappointed at first to find it was not a Sigma Force adventure. Though so very glad I stuck with it. For those looking for adventure, fantasy and all James Rollins tales encompass you will be very pleasantly rewarded.

Story
In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back. They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

The murders of a team of United Nations scientists in El Salvador.... A deadly collision in the waterways off the city of Detroit.... An attack by tomb raiders on an archaeological site along the banks of the Nile.... Is there a link between these violent events? The answer may lie in the tale of an Egyptian princess forced to flee the armies of her father 3,000 years ago.

A struggle
Reviewed: 06-14-19
It was not one of his better written books. The back and forth with Pitt and kids proved tedious. The storyline was bumpy and not as cohesive as previous titles. Hope the writers are more successful in pulling all the odd bits together in their next book or.....?

Story
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Challenging to get through. But glad I did!

Surprisingly upbeat. The characters gently unfolded a gratifying lesson in the human spirit. Also, the importance of taking the extra care of looking at (one) another from the inside.
Unforgettable!

The theory of the "Tree" and its origins was thought provoking. Most memorable part of book was the biblical reference back to Genesis. Although, it took some time to warm up to the narrator.

Story
A construction project beneath the National Mall reveals a dark secret dating back to the Civil War, something buried by a cabal of scientists, led by Alexander Graham Bell, who helped found the Smithsonian Institution. It is a cache of bones, preserved in amber, protecting a wonder like no other, the very secret of life after death. But such a prize is guarded by a horror out of the ancient past, a horror that still lives in the marrow of those bones - and is now free again.
