Story
In Siddhartha, Herman Hesse conveys a very profound message for all those who seek meaning in their lives. Though set in India, the concerns of Siddhartha are universal, expressing Hesse's general interest in the conflict between mind, body, and spirit. It is a story of a Brahmin boy who follows his heart and ventures out into the world to experience life as a pious Brahmin, a Samana, a rich merchant, a lover, and ordinary ferryman to a father - each life bringing a new awakening, bringing him closer to the truth until he is finally one with Buddha.

Great unexpected book!
Reviewed: 02-27-18
This was a joyful experience. The narrator is excellent, the story is very good, very unexpected.
I was very touched by parts two and three. The detail that Herman Hesse delivers are astonishing.
I thought that the story was about the Buddha... Oh... Wrong! The Buddha is a small participant... It's about another Siddhartha, one that finds and loses enlightenment. One that experiences the world, the samsara, one that learns, that make mistakes and...
I wish you have a wonderful experience listening to this book.

Story
For years, our concept of the self and well-being has been dominated by the notion of self-esteem, while the old fashioned value of willpower has been disparaged by psychologists who argued that we’re largely driven by unconscious forces beyond our control. In Willpower Baumeister and Tierney turn this misinformation on its head to reveal self-control as arguably the single most powerful indicator of success. Baumeister discovered that willpower actually has a physical basis to it....

Very good concepts, but with long stories
Reviewed: 12-04-17
Very good experience, but I think that the stories told to prepare for a concept or thesis, were extremely long and detailed. This made the book become unnecessarily bigger.
But overall the concepts are gems, very good experiments and key takeways to implement right now into my life.

Great book! Ok narration.
Reviewed: 08-02-17
The book, it's concepts and ideas are extremely valuable. Everyone should be introduced to this book as it applies to so much more than startups or businesses.
What I didn't like was Eric's narration. It was boring sometimes, monotonic at other times. It felt like a robot with Eric's voice was reading the book. lol

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

It hits you whether you want it or not...
Reviewed: 07-19-17
Mark Manson nailed it. In a very simple but profound way, he gives us valuable and actionable "experiments" to try. I will not say lessons, because I didn't take him for a teacher, but rather a fellow human being walking the path and sharing his experiences.
This experiments will put your life into perspective, and sometimes a perspective that you don't really like to look at... But doing so is a key to growth and (real) self-development.
I must say that sometimes he gets repetitive, but that is also good because the things he is throwing at us aren't easy to digest right away.
And Roger Wayne? Wow! Terrific narration. Very funny and also very deep and serious when needed to.
Loved the book, thank you.
