Driving back, she pulled in at a convenience store—and walked right into a robbery in progress. One gunshot from a jittery thief was about to change her world.

Word salad, omg, word salad
Reviewed: 06-19-25
Nora Roberta fluffs up her writing by continuously repeating sentences and adding thousands of adjectives to the dialogue. It's like an excited preteen blabbering for the sake of just hearing her voice. The villain is laughable. The protagonist is annoying. It's gotten to the point I can't listen to it anymore.

as a fairly conservative woman I take offense to being labeled constantly as evil, or radical and basically not worth living not only in everyday life, in rhe media and now also in novels. So glad this was a free download. Good bye and good riddance

Story
It’s a question everyone asks themselves, but few have to face in real life. English teacher Richard Boyle certainly never thought he would find himself talking down a former student intent on harming others, but when Mark LeDrew shows up at Richard’s school with a bomb strapped to his chest, Richard immediately jumps into action. Thanks to some quick thinking, he averts a major tragedy and is hailed as a hero, but not all the attention focused on him is positive.

stupid protagonist, so unlikable
Reviewed: 06-19-24
I can't handle the unlikeable and totally stupid main character. He thinks he is so smart, lone ranger, always coming up with the dumbest lies. My 8 year old nephew is a more convincing liar. Normally it's dumb women in these books. It's predictable and boring.

Basic people, in a basic town with unbelievable stories. Most of the women are lashes. Who'd drinks every single day? The whole story is unbelievable. The Inn is supposed to support 4 adults and part time employees. A cook? And a maid? They'd have to gross over a half mil a year. o. basically on a B and B.
And the loser handyman, who has nothing to show for his life but a vehicle and clothing? And the way all the "men" act is totally unreal. The only positive... book was free.

I absolutely loved this book. Ms. Freeman did a great job to bring the various characters to life. To include proper pronunciation of the locales mentioned throughout the book. I know, maybe petty, but I appreciate someone invests the time to properly pronounce names and places.
Mr Beach wrote another page turner. I've bought every book he wrote, and enjoy them very much.

Reviewed: 11-09-23
I bought the first 6 books in the series. With every book I dislike Val more. She is whiney, hates everything, is arrogant and brings literally nothing to the table as a girlfriend, yet has this cool and loving guy.
She is full of self inflicted drama, acts like a 12 yo, because she doesn't want to share here space with the boyfriend, because she is worries about "losing" herself.
She us your basic american female, annoying, all about her and annoying.
