Story
Did you know that the California Gold Rush was the largest mass migration event in the history of the United States of America? More than 300,000 people settled in the previously sparsely populated California. And they all came in the period between 1849 and 1855. But sadly, the people living in California quickly fell into violence, racism, and misogyny.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

He has been both a foreign correspondent in some of the world's most dangerous places and a legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for alcohol and literature.

The Enigma Decoded
Reviewed: 12-09-19
I found this memoir to be remarkable. For years I have read and followed the various writings and audio clips of Mr. Hitchens. He takes the listener on the fascinating and history-laden journey of his life. Many burning questions I had about him and the formation of his worldview were answered. I only wish he was still here with us to continue the tale.

Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.
