Imagery and character development

This book gives “The Last of Us” vibes. I love the main characters and how they evolved. Imagery of scenery was really well done.

The ending. Ughhh my heart

As I sit here crying over the authors note…I’m so glad to have listened to this book. What a beautiful and gut wrenching story. Some very unexpected turns and a truth to the story that doesn’t exist in most. Loved it and will take a while to recover from it.

After reading other reviews I expected more. The characters seemed to have the same conflict and conversation throughout most of the book and I found them stuck in a cycle. It was okay but I didn’t find myself that invested.

Story
The gym is Lizzie’s life—it’s her passion, her job, and the only place that’s ever felt like home. Unfortunately, her bosses consider her a glorified check-in girl at best, and the gym punching bag at worst. When their son, Lizzie’s best friend, James, begs her to be his plus one at his perfect sister Cara’s wedding, things go wrong immediately, and culminate in Lizzie giving a drunken pep talk to a hot stranger in the women’s bathroom—except that stranger is actually the bride-to-be, and Lizzie has accidentally convinced her to ditch her groom.

Pushing the drama

Overall enjoyed the book and characters. However it felt like the drama was really not there at times but trying to make it more suspenseful.
