Story
When sixth grader Silas Wade does a school presentation on former Major Leaguer Glenn Burke, it’s more than just a report about the irrepressible inventor of the high five. Burke was a gay baseball player in the 1970s―and for Silas, the presentation is his own first baby step toward revealing a truth about himself he’s tired of hiding. Soon he tells his best friend, Zoey, but the longer he keeps his secret from his baseball teammates, the more he suspects they know something’s up―especially when he stages one big cover-up with terrible consequences.

OMGOMGOMG I loved it!

It was amazing! I loved it! I love the Percy Jackson series so much. If I could I would just live in that world forever. The original series and heroes of Olympus was great. And so is this. there is just like one thing though. . . first maybe this is just me but I kind of wish there was like a big bad guy you know like Kronos. I feel like it gives story more purpose like I get it but he’s trying till I get into college and that’s the purpose but I don’t know. I kind of like trying to mastermind a big evil force. Also I want to find out more about Annabeth and Percy‘s relationship. which I don’t feel like was really in this. But other than that I love this. The Percy Jackson world feels like I kind of home for me. And I 100% can’t wait to see more!!! (sorry for any spelling and grammar errors i’m kind of bad at that sort of thing)

Story
Clea can’t control her thoughts. She knows she has to do her homework...but she gets distracted. She knows she can’t just say whatever thought comes into her head...but sometimes she can’t help herself. She know she needs to focus...but how can she do that when the people around her are always chewing gum loudly or making other annoying noises? It’s starting to be a problem - not just in school, but when Clea’s playing chess or just hanging out with her best friend.

We need more books like this!!

OK so the first thing I wanted to say is:
We need more books like this.
I don’t think we have enough good books out there with characters that struggle with these things. I related much to Clea. especially with her struggles of trying to get her parents to understand. This is an amazing book and I’m so glad I found it!

At least that’s what twelve-year-old Eliana has grown up hearing. Imagine her surprise when one morning in the forest she finds herself eye-to-eye with a young dragon. When she learns the dragon’s father has been missing since the last full moon, she vows to help.

I loved this book… some parts were a bit confusing though
Reviewed: 07-15-23
I have been obsessed with dragons and magic forever. I loved this book because it had:
1. Both magic and dragons
2. I like the idea of having a semi-telepathically connection with a dragon
3. I like how The story is not centered self around a prince or a princess. I feel like in a lot of stories like this one, the prince/princess is either the main character of the story or the story centers itself around the prince/princess. Instead the main character is Eliana who I think is much more relatable to people.
4: I think it’s cool how in this story the dragons didn’t even eat meat.
5: The way Eliana feels guilty for lying and then leaving her parents. So I read a lot of books. In a lot of them with plot similar to this (being the character goes out on a big adventure to save the kingdom) the character wonder’s how the people they left are doing. Eliana actually feels guilty for betraying her parents trust. I think that makes her character more human.
So that’s why I love the book. I could of course going to greater depth. But I’m not going to right now. I just think it’s an amazing book and I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy books With both a betrayal and darkness, happiness and deep friendship. With all that said there’s only one concern. I wouldn’t even call it concern really I’d call it more of a confusion I guess. It’s switches between both characters and sometimes actual times of the things happening. At first it was pretty confusing and made it a little hard to keep up with but as the story went on I figured it out. I love this book and I can’t wait to read the second one!
