We continuously decide between seizing the pleasure of the moment or making a sacrifice for the future -- but Peterson reminds us that virtue is its own reward. Placing food in a baby's mouth is more fulfilling than a profit in the stock market. But why? What is the whispering voice that recognizes evil, reveals new insights, and enables you to feel love, awe and gratitude? Whether you are an atheist or agnostic, if you are willing to acknowledge these mysteries you have taken the first step away from moral anarchy, such as the shysters who tell us to outwit the other guy, take drugs, or find new hook-ups. Peterson wants us to set a lofty purpose. For inspiration he uses the Bible stories to help us find our errors, acknowledge our "God-given" talents and to use them to energize ourselves and the world.
