This is very much a dime store novel. The writing is often flat and burdened by heavy-handed nature metaphors.

Similarly, the narration is a bit weird as the southern accents are not believable. My partner laughed out loud hearing the voices…

Boring, long-winded, self-serving

This book is Campbell describing without much justification his direct interpretation of all of human mythology. However, it is still rooted in a basis of catholicism which leads to selective interpretation, and frankly, a rosy 1950s male idealism about gender roles, heterosexual relationships (ignoring many ancient traditions that are inclusive of multi gender, multi orientation). Uninspired and tired.

This is quack science lifted from common remedies...wish the amazon interface wasn’t so cluttered so I found that in the reviews before I spent my audible credit :(((

With chronic conditions it is really frustrating to find adequate diagnosis and care, and the author appeals to that need, but unfortunately with no grounding to his assertions.

I recommend doing this one as a regular book—the narrator sounds like a robot, which makes it hard to hear. Though I can imagine the concept of white fragility might be so triggering for some people that they chose a robotic person to narrate. It’s a loss, because it makes it much harder to engage and retain the content.
