Excellent translation.

The narration is much better than that of Volume 1. The absence of diacritical marks (a conscious but misguided choice by the translator) in the text is the only major drawback of this excellent translation.

Story
The Theory of the Leisure Class was written by Thorstein Veblen at the turn of the 20th century. It delves deeply into the nature of economics and the social institutions, exploring the forces that create and maintain class division, how these forces evolved through history, and how they influence the economy. In this work, Veblen presents a critique of capitalism on the basis of "conspicuous consumption", a term that he himself coined. He examines economics as a function of evolution, tracking the division of labor and stratification of class during the development of society.

There are some good insights, but the book could have been reduced in length by 90% without any loss of content. The narration is manageable, but the bland language and redundancy make for a tiresome listening experience.

Story
The Mahabharata is one of the greatest stories ever told. Though the basic plot is widely known, there is much more to the epic than the dispute between the Kouravas and Pandavas that led to the battle in Kurukshetra. It has innumerable sub-plots that accommodate fascinating meanderings and digressions, and it has rarely been translated in full, given its formidable length of 80,000 shlokas or couplets. This magnificent 10-volume unabridged translation of the epic is based on the Critical Edition compiled at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.

The narration could have been better, but it is certainly not bad. I am looking forward to the audio versions of the rest of the volumes.
