Story
In the tradition of Out of My Mind, Wonder, and Mockingbird, this is an intensely moving middle grade novel about being an outsider, coping with loss, and discovering the true meaning of family. Willow Chance is a 12-year-old genius, obsessed with nature and diagnosing medical conditions, who finds it comforting to count by sevens. It has never been easy for her to connect with anyone other than her adoptive parents, but that hasn’t kept her from leading a quietly happy life...until now.

Willow is a very special girl. I haven’t been this moved by a book in a long time. So much hope from so much sadness.

Difficult as an audiobook
Reviewed: 08-09-20
Too many characters and days to keep track of as an audiobook. Interesting story that often got lost. If I had a do over, I would have picked up the paperback.

Most predictable book in the world. I figure it out long before the detective did.

Story
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.
