Story
Last I remember I was saving my high school crush from the path of an oncoming truck. Now I'm a skin-and-bones weakling wearing nothing but my hospital gown. Oh yeah, the world is also full of monsters, and I'm the only human left. It turns out a godlike System evacuated humanity but decided to leave the vegetable in the bed. I could crawl into a corner and wait to get eaten by a kobold, but after years of being asleep, I have a new appreciation for feeling alive. I'll have to find the tenacity to survive, the courage to fight, and the strength to face some dark truths about myself.

Too Short / Half a book…
Reviewed: 03-14-25
First off, lots of potential here.
I unfortunately was left wanting more but not in a good way. I really felt more story was needed, and I understand Authors don't aways have full control what a publisher house does with their stories. Too me, based on many other LitRPG’s this needed another few hours or the finished on what the MC started.
The idea’s are cool, system is a bit compiled but interesting and potential seem very High.
The arrangement events at the moment of MC’s system integration was not overly clear, can't say more. Also, The MC who i don't relate to at all but found intriguing and was liking and seemed highly intelligent for
His age, became less so and a bit of a Sappy Doormat out of nowhere. It dont feel like character growth.
Pacing was slow, especially based on the highs he's going to need to get to in order to accomplish half of whats needed. Battle action could use an upgrade.
Unsure about getting book 2. And that mostly from my past experiences with other series that just don't get going and these split-book that feel like the story got chopped in half to get more mileage out of an author

anti-climactic and mostly boring… I like this series but purchasing each book via a credits is just not with.
The first books felt like a full book that you could tell was goinb to continue. Lately books are just ending awkwardly. The Author needs to have a discussion with thie publisher about splitting up a single story into multiple books… its a good way to loss your fan-base.
I don't mind Salvos screwing around and doing random weird /useless stuff… but when a book is all filler, just No

While the story is good, it was to short… as why out a preview of the First book at the end of this one… seems a shameless way to pad the run time of a short story.

I like the series, Book 4 was still good but 90% of the book is or involves training for the future or the Level 10 tournament… just felt to much like a filler book.
I'm really hoping for more than just a whole book with one tournament for the next…

I’m an Admitted harsh critic. I did like the story and will be purchasing book 2 at some point.
Not a lot of actual “Story” here but If you are a Fan of lots of fighting scene, power leveling and special attack/ability level-ups, than this is your book. Feel a lot like Defiance of the Fall but even more focused on Leveling up and even less Storyline.
I would like more actual storyline… but it seems that could be coming.

Story
When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

A great first book… Both MC’s are balanced against eash other (the None Hero…would be considered the True MC). Well written, well-narrated by Nick Podehl (as Always).
I was actually hoping for an anti-villain/Anti-Hero story, based on the book title, technically that's still possible.
While I liked the story and everything was perfectly balanced and well-rounded, yet it felt to muck like the basic medieval fantasy setting & characters of current modern fantasy did all the things they should do… it was too formulaic.
I'd say perfect for someone new to the genre of LitRPG, not stat heavy and just enough of the basics to make an Epic Fantasy reader feel at home. As a veteran LitRPG Reader/listener it was somewhat redundant but i still enjoyed it, i didn’t feel my attention drifting, it remained interesting. So I do recommend the title.
I'd say my major disappointment was The main MC “Inverse” magic skill he gains… he didn't use it to its fullest extent nor take the time to test other Applications. And i felt like a missed opportunity when he had many moments for its use. I was dishearted the Author took the “stupid MC” route and didn't have our very intelligent MC use it in an“ ah ha!” moment, instead our intelligent MC just didn't do it. I guess he will think of it next book. 🙄
I'm excited for the next book, I'm really hoping for some unique world-building.

Love this series and now I’m definitely ready for book 13… I felt like this was just a big build-up to something we’ve been waiting for, for a long time (story wise).
All the build up, no true feeling of pay off, or sense of what this new power level is from Zac’s perspective.

Bracing danger, adventure, and unknown threats, Fred is instead asked to take on an entirely different role than anticipated. Acting as interim professor at one of the few universities for supernatural entities, Fred will have to navigate a strange environment, eccentric coworkers, and unenthusiastic students. Yet that alone won't be enough, for this college has more history than the tales in its tomes.

First off, I did like the book. And any fan should get it.
Not sure if it was me but I had a hard time focusing on this book, about 1/3 to 1/2 something was absence. I didn’t feel connected with the story like I usually do. I really didn’t care about the students, already guessing one, possibly two mattered, plus they didn’t feel flushed out. The tension felt lacking some how.
Maybe It need a 2nd storyline or other interactions going on elsewhere…maybe it was to much time at one location.
I know this series is not about Fred getting OP abilities and being a Vampire God but I feel like he’s not holding his own again. I’m also ready for something more with Quinn to happen, him getting away is getting old and Fred does not seem to be creating a solution or have extra measure ready for his inevitable reemergence into his un-life
I Love Fred and enjoy all Drew’s writing of him quite a bit. Looking forward to the next book(s)

Becoming a knockoff Dracula in tight leather pants was never part of Vincent’s plans. Neither was being summoned to another world by a cult of vampire wannabes. But both happened. Now, Vincent’s left to pick up the tattered pieces of his humanity as he tries to grow strong enough to keep his family safe. The world is filled with nightmares, and the looming threat of losing his soul stands between his goal and his reality, so it’s not like it will be too hard or anything. Hell should tremble. A good man is going to war.

I really enjoyed this installment (11th) of the book.
Quite a bit of Body, Soul, and Path cultivation… a few battles, Trials and power-up’s but nothing to Major. I was just glad to be done with the Orum world… a lot of what happen here I felt should have happened there.
The book cover art is a bit inaccurate IMO but I think hints at what will come about in a book in the future.
Overall, I felt it was a very solid book. Excited for more.
