I listened to this on Audible, which was a pleasant diversion as I was cooking. In this variation, Fitzwilliam (Mr. Darcy) and Elizabeth marry. Things are going swimmingly as Elizabeth is introduced to society as Mrs. Darcy under his and his aunt's wing. Then Mr. Darcy announces that he must leave for an unexpected appointment, but will be back later in the day. He also alerts Elizabeth that an old school chum is arriving for a visit and for her to entertain him in his absence. Mr. Darcy does not return as scheduled--he has disappeared.
Then the knives come out. Apparently, society's acceptance of Elizabeth was not as universal as she might have thought. Rumors abound about Darcy's past and whether or not Elizabeth is the spouse he wanted. And there are others only to willing to take advantage of his absence.
An engrossing tale that makes you remember the expectations, or lack thereof, of women in that time. Highly recommend.

Story
Jim Malhaven is a lonely hack reporter, stringing along on assignments no one else wants at the local paper, until he gets the scoop of his life. There's a mysterious wraith haunting the local cemetery, and it's up to him to get to the bottom of the ghostly goings-on. Along the way, he'll cross paths with a trio of weird sisters, uncover a sinister conspiracy, have more than one brush with death, and meet a gal with honey blonde hair and a killer smile. Is she that "certain someone" he's been looking for all his life, or is there a villain hiding behind that lovely face?

Loved this book and ended up loving the narrator. At first, I had difficulty understanding him, but I kept with it and in fairly short order got used to his cadence and style. He ended up being an excellent choice for this terrific book and I was impressed with the different voices he was able to create. Highly recommend.

Story
Tessa was born with a gift. Through a simple touch she picks up pieces of others. A flash of color devours her - the only indication that she’s gained something new from another person. Red equals pain; purple, a talent; yellow, a premonition; orange, a painful memory; and blue, a pleasant one. Each flash blurs the lines between her inherent traits and those she’s acquired from others. Whenever she gains bits of something new, she loses more pieces of herself.

I read the book previously and loved it. I was lucky enough to get a free coupon, so I decided to try the Audible version. I loved the narrator’s pacing and the way she portrayed the different characters. It was easy to discern who was speaking. I knew from reading the book how suspenseful, and well written it was. Hearing it made me appreciate it that much more. This is a scary thriller told well.
