Story
In this classic book, John of Damascus laboured to form one complete, clear, and brief theological work that would summarize all Christian doctrine that had been passed down and agreed upon. The following was said of the book: The result was an inexhaustible storehouse of tradition in which nothing is to be found that has not been either approved by the ecumenical synods or by the established leaders of the Church.

Story
The Gospel of Nicodemus, otherwise known as the Acts of Pilate (Acta Pilati) is not assumed to have been written by Pilate, but rather to have been compiled from the official acts which were preserved in the praetorium at Jerusalem. The original is said to have been written by Nicodemus in Hebrew. The work gained a wide readership in the Middle Ages, with its popularity shown by the number of languages and versions in which it exists.

A hidden gem or ancient extra biblical literature. The last section is a fascinating account of the “Harrowing of Hades.”

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

Needed more now than ever

In today’s political climate books like animal farm are more important than ever. To lose touch with this part of the 20th century is a mistake. To see the hammer and sickle as anything less abhorrent than the swastika is to not appreciate the terror of the October revolution and its aftermath.
