Mixed Feelings

I guess this sort of helps. Everything sounds like generally good advice. I mean it applies to more than dating, so some of the ideas seem like common sense. Though it is good that it is placed in a dating context or else it isn't so obvious that is probably the most appropriate way to behave. I would say, a lot of the advice seems more opionated rather than fact based. So the book is more of a general guide and not a well researched statistically proven guide to dating. If you like the other person and they like you, and there are no red flags, then don't worry about feeling self conscious about dating. in the end it is about positive emotion. Then again, I don't know anything about relationships, so don't listen to me.

Story
This book was authored for heterosexual men who have endured a failed long-term relationship with a woman and are having a difficult time picking up the pieces and starting over in life. It will appeal especially to those men who have discovered that their wife committed infidelity. For these men, life, as they know it, was completely turned upside down.

Got what I was looking for

I picked this book just to see what rock bottom looked like just in case I reached that point. I'm not someone who has reached that point. I'm actually just some 20ish year old. I did enjoy the book, and understand how the book is helpful in getting people out of a dark place. That said. The author DSO, too be frank, has had a pretty messed up life. I thought the steroids section was interesting and appreciate the insights. I'm personally not going down that route, since it sounds like a permanent routine with side effects. The whole trying to figure women out seemed like it generalized too much. Women are people so who knows what type of experiences and thoughts comprise them. Meeting people is like opening a black box, and you make assumptions and observe as you interact with them. And sometimes people aren't committed and feel like dipping out of the relationship. Paying attention to the red flags I feel is what is important, as mentioned in the book. yeah definitely a good experience reading. I can always become an entrepreneur, author, consultant if things turn out poorly for me. just kidding, glad he made the book and is doing well.

Story
Continuing where Thus Spoke Zarathustra left off, Nietzsche's controversial work Beyond Good and Evil is one of the most influential philosophical texts of the 19th century and one of the most controversial works of ideology ever written. Attacking the notion of morality as nothing more than institutionalised weakness, Nietzsche criticises past philosophers for their unquestioning acceptance of moral precepts. Nietzsche tried to formulate what he called "the philosophy of the future".

when I thought of niezche I thought of a tough read. I imagined this would be difficult and boring. after finishing, I know niezche wasn't as extreme as people make him to be. it was like listening to someone really relatable. he makes sense. he simply philosophies on the human condition. I have always been curious about humanity. the dark and the good sides of personalities both in myself and others. hearing someone explain his perspective was soothing and I didn't feel it as an attack. good experience. better than expected.

not bad. it was alright. as of 2021 I don't think robotic intelligence is nearly at the point of the book. I mean boston dynamics is the most impressive robotics company, and they mostly work with robotic motion/ physics not AI intelligence. good book of fiction none the less. enjoyable. categorized in my mind as a warning of the future similar to 1984 and brave new world.

Books alright. It's pretty good for people who end up in bad relationships. Great subject on abusive personalities, and reputation blackmail. I mean none of us are perfect, as Blanche demonstrates, but at least she is kind. Stanley on the other hand is aweful and selfish. Stella is naive and isn't capable of leaving a bad situation before it gets worse. I mean the book probably isn't offering solutions, but it helps in demonstrating the red flags of poor human characteristics.

Story
John Milton's Paradise Lost is one of the greatest epic poems in the English language. It tells the story of the Fall of Man, a tale of immense drama and excitement, of rebellion and treachery, of innocence pitted against corruption, in which God and Satan fight a bitter battle for control of mankind's destiny.

Honestly, I didn't understand 80 percent of the book. Milton wrote it in the 16th century or so as poetry. So it was pretty difficult to keep up with the plot. I thought it was a hard listen, but enjoyable at times. Like stockholm syndrome, it's love hate experience. Kinda feel bad that Milton at the age of 60, blind, gout ridden, and sick, decided to finish this 10+ year project on the story of Adam and Eve, and I did not find it that interesting.

This is a very popular title, so you might imagine that it is a highly reliable undisputable book on relationships. I guarantee after reading the book and actually interacting with people that it is not the case. The advise in this book work in superficial interactions with people you need to only interact with briefly. For more complex interactions there is the game of choice, emotion, power, seduction, politics, humor, and results. To make real friends, know that people have their own problems, situations, goals and issues they are focused on, and know that you have the same. Then use your words to ask questions, entertain, clarify ect to achieve whatever you seek.

Story
The legendary college football coach and analyst, Lou Holtz once said: "When all is said and done, more is said than done." These few, yet extremely profound words explain one of the biggest predicaments that individuals face today. Many of us as individuals say we want to be successful, happy, and influential. Yet, very, very few of us follow up what we say - whether said to others or ourselves - with specific actions that move us directly toward those goals.

Not exactly what I expected

I was planning the on rating the book a lot worse because of the content being misleading and I found some of it unethical as well. Much of what is in here is unscientific. It is the anecdotes, theories and stories of a successful salesman/ public speaker. He tells a story about how he brainwashed his son into being confident at one point. And he tells of how he acted as a dog for his boss, in regards to work. In addition to preaching about being a workaholic in the workplace. However dispite these negatives, there are some real gems in this book that really pertains to motivatation. Writing down goals, being clear in your objectives, boosting your self esteem with positive self talk, getting at least 8 hours of sleep, knowing you can learn anything, and the idea of compounding in regards to skills. These are priceless, and are worth knowing. I think the author is too old fashioned, and rigid in his outlook. maybe he can be more kind to people who don't want to be the number one guy in the company and are satisfied living a stable balanced life. He is worth listening to and has his own perspective by the end of the day.

An exceptional book that I think many more people should be exposed to. It gives a great framework on how to question and make sense of the confusing world we are all in. It does not cover the political and ethical modes of thinking that I think are also important. However being able to think critically is important in getting to the truth of situations and solving problems in our everyday lives and in our society.

Story
In the slums of 18th-century France, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born with one sublime gift - an absolute sense of smell. As a boy, he lives to decipher the odors of Paris and apprentices himself to a prominent perfumer who teaches him the ancient art of mixing precious oils and herbs. But Grenouille's genius is such that he is not satisfied to stop there, and he becomes obsessed with capturing the smells of objects. Then one day, he catches a hint of a scent that will drive him on an ever-more-terrifying quest to create the "ultimate perfume" - the scent of a beautiful young virgin.

great job by the performer. I loved the voices of the characters. I thought the mid part and ending were more enjoyable than the beginning. slow start. some of the scenes were brutal and disgusting. maybe that is what makes this book apealing. also kurt cobain himself liked the book, so it gives some perspective on the great musical artist's mind.
