Excellent book on the American struggle for Independence
Reviewed: 08-06-24
This book is an excellent overview of American history with a background of colonial America up until the ratification of the US constitution. Middlekauf does an excellent job laying out the facts with little insights into each event. It is a throughly researched book that gives enough context to each improper and event during this period of American history. The reader also does an excellent job reading out this book.

Story
After his adventures in The Tower of Fools and Warriors of God, Reynevan is on the run again, harried by enemies—some human, and some mystical—at every turn. These are cruel and dangerous times for a man such as Reynevan, and to survive, he must set aside his history as a peaceful healer and idealist and play the brutal role of Hussite spy as crusades sweep through Silesia and the Czech Republic, and the world around him is forever changed.

The epic conclusion to a fantastic trilogy
Reviewed: 03-02-23
First off, Peter Kenny does a fantastic job. He gives life to each character and there are hundreds of characters throughout this trilogy. He’s one of the best for audio books.
The story is also epic. Andrzej Sapkowski is a fantastic Writer. His style is addicting to listen too and he really fills out the world around the characters. He has such a realistic view when writing. Things often don’t work out, which gives every interaction and battle a feeling on not knowing what will happen next. The characters are well written and the conclusion to the series is full of highs and lows.
I highly recommend the Hussite Trilogy and the Witcher novels. David French, Andrzej Sapkowski, Peter Kenny, and all those involved worked very hard and their work payed off. These are some of the best audio books.

Story
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Tolkien writes one of the best novels of all time. The adventures of Bilbo is a story that keeps you wanting to hear more. Also Andy Serkis does an excellent job reading this book. This is a great listen and one I will return and listen too.

Story
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

Awesome book and narration!
Reviewed: 05-31-22
This book was an intriguing description of apocalyptic Moscow. The story is well written and easy to follow. The main character has many harrowing experiences and has many different philosophical revelations throughout the book. The narration was also spot on. The narrator was able to have different voices for each character and did a great job. Overall a great listen and I look forward to listening to the sequels!

An epic sequel in the Hussite trilogy
Reviewed: 10-29-21
This book is riveting. Sapkowski has really outdone himself with the second book in the Hussite trilogy. Lots of intrigue and suspense are bound in this book. The way he describes these events of the 15th century almost makes them believable in this historical fiction novel. The realistic way in which he writes always leaves me guessing or thinking the worst might happen. Great book and Peter Kenny did a fantastic job as usual narrating this book! I highly recommend this book and look forward to the 3rd book!

Story
Originally named A Tangled Skein, this is the first Sherlock Holmes story. The real strength and the unique quality of the novel lies in the introduction of Holmes and Watson to each other - and those dark early scenes when a corpse is discovered in a derelict house in southeast London. The ultimate crusader against crime and criminals, Holmes' genius is revealed here for the very first time.

The millennium between the breakup of the western Roman Empire and the Reformation was a long and hugely transformative period - one not easily chronicled within a single book. Yet distinguished historian Chris Wickham has taken up the challenge in this landmark book, and he succeeds in producing the most riveting account of medieval Europe in a generation.

Great book for those who know already know medieval history
Reviewed: 03-03-21
I enjoyed this book especially since it was part of the plus library. But I do feel as most of this book went over my head. I knew a little bit about medieval history and listened with the intent to learn more. This book is focused mainly on major topics and went through details and how this affected the times. This is a good book I can tell, just be warned if you don’t have a large knowledge of medieval history, because this book goes deep.
