Story
The battlefield realm: a realm where sects rise and fall. Where the ground trembles under the feet of fighters from the higher realms. Where riches are gained and empires lost. This is where Erik and Rugrat must go, if they want to increase their strength and the strength of Alva. They say that fortune favors the bold. This is the ten realms. To the victor go the spoils. The fourth realm will change their lives...or end them.

Great story but somewhat confusing.

I love the overall story and character progression it's amazing following Eric and Rugrats journey through the ten realms. However I found it really difficult to keep up with the vast number of different characters and remember who is who in the hierarchy of several different sects, clans, guilds, associations and what not and then remembering which of those characters is in alliances with whom and which faction and at points I just kind of zoned out because the story progression was bogged down with pointless deviations. The audio quality also left something to be desired with the volume and sound quality fluctuating mid sentence to a quiet tinny "off" sounding quality then resuming its original quality or mid sentence sounding muffled and distant. it seems the original audio was recorded then revisions were added with a completely different recording set up and no care was taken to match the two different audio qualities. I almost feel like it would have been better to just pick up a hard copy and read it.

The author tries awfully hard to be hip and modern

fantastically crafted adventure through the arcane
Reviewed: 01-20-19
This book was everything I was hoping it was going to be and then some, my only complaint is I now have to wait until the next book is released. from the very beginning this series has captivated my interests and held a spot amongst my favorite novels. Andrew Rowe is an exceptionally talented author that never ceases to keep me completely captivated with his stories. I haven't felt this way since the first time reading Harry potter almost twenty years ago, but listening to the talented Nick Podehl expertly narrate this story filled me with the same sense of wonder and joy that I've longed for. I would highly recommend this book to anybody that is looking for an in depth adventure into the arcane and action packed and strongly suggest they check out his other works as well. :)
