Story
Like most of us, Toni Lodge tells little white lies all the time. Whether it's "I'm five minutes away" or "It must have gone to my spam folder", most of these innocent fibs are harmless. But what if you realised that you weren't just lying about the little things, but the big "life" stuff too? When Toni sat down to write this memoir, she realized that the lies she was telling herself were hiding some pretty important home truths—about her work, her identity and her mental health. In her dogged pursuit of these truths, she brazenly explores everything.

Looking for a laugh? Looking for a good sob?

I knew when I decided to listen that I was in for some laughs; however, I didn’t expect to be brought to tears as well. Toni is a great story teller, and I cannot wait to enjoy her podcast. Not me also realizing that I might also have OCD now.

Story
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Fantastic Memoir

You would never know the same guy who cracks jokes at corrupt politicians had been the same guy who lived through a life of such strife. However, what hits closest to your heart is hearing the story of Trevor’s mother from when he was a baby throughout his adulthood.

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Great Read; Somewhat predictable plot
Reviewed: 12-26-22
If you are a fan of character self-actualization, you will love this book. The story never gets boring, and at moment it keeps you on your toes. Of course, the plot was easily predicted, there was still enough excitement that it didn’t ruin the experience for me.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Empowering
Reviewed: 08-07-22
Almost instantly, the reader begins to empathize with Kya. The author does a great job at painting who Kya is and why she is the way she is. By the time the plot thickens, you can’t help but stand by her side through whatever will happen to her. Even as the truth unfolds, you cannot help but feel empowered by her.
If you are a fan of true crime, social justice, and/or southern gothic literature, this book is perfect for you.
